Like everyone else, I am feeling overwhelmed and a bit paralyzed by the pandemic that has invaded our country and our lives seemingly overnight. It seems like trying to make decisions in our lives that are longer range than just for today is very difficult. It’s like we wake up each day a new world.
To help me feel steady and to find more direction than is offered by the media, I decided to envision the Queen in each of the chakras and see what kind of message might be there. The following is that message and I want to share it with you.
The first chakra, at the base of the spine, offers us a reminder that it rules the physical body, our connection with the Earth, with our country, our tribes (or families), food, money, and other necessities for survival. It gives a sense of groundedness. So, the Queen in that place reminds us to take time from our concerns and ever-changing conditions, to find time to ground ourselves. Do this by taking a short amount of time (possibly before our daily meditation) to see ourselves with a imagined cord coming from our first chakra, at the bottom of our bodies, going down to the center of the earth and being secured there—holding us firmly and lovingly. The Queen in this chakra reminds us that we are part of this physical earth and are in our rightful home.
The second chakra, slightly below the navel, is the energy center for procreation, sexuality and creativity. Creativity seems to call as a means to weather this storm, and it can be creativity with a small c or a big C. Since you may be feeling fearful, panicked or scared, a little light-hearted activity can go a long way towards changing that. If you live with others you might want to find small ways to bring that lightheartedness in. Do something unexpectedly sweet and touching to let them know how important they are to you. Maybe bake a special cake and or do something that will make them smile. If you live alone, use your creativity on yourself. Give yourself some out-of-the-ordinary self-care. How long has it been since you took a long soak in the tub? Since you fixed yourself a special meal? On the Big C side of creativity—maybe get out the paints and try your hand at watercolor. Let it flow with no judgment. Paint as though no one else will ever see it (they don’t have to).
The third chakra, located in the solar plexus, is about personal power. The current situation may greatly impact how personally powerful we may feel, so it can be a time to recall and reclaim what power we have. Look for places in your present condition where you can call the shots. Decide if you want to take a short media vacation, perhaps. You don’t need permission to do that. If you notice that someone close to you is having a hard time, take a break from your own worrying and look for a way to cheer them up or listen to their concerns without judgment. You still have dominion over what you do, think and say. Clarify your intentions and then do what it takes to achieve them. It can be as small as choosing what to say and more importantly, what not to say.
The fourth chakra, in the heart, is all about love. When we feel frightened and possibly even under attack, we often close down to self-protect, but now is the time that love in all its many forms is so needed. Look with your own Queenly vision how you may manifest love. It is the most powerful antidote to fear–and it is often the hardest to access. I have spent a great deal of time this week thinking about those in my own life—most particularly my husband—and realizing again and again how important he is to me. Daily life often mutes and dulls that realization, but times of crisis can bring it sharply into focus. Don’t forget to share those realizations. Love fiercely and loudly.
The fifth chakra, located in the throat, helps us communicate. Here the loudly part (see above) is amplified. The Queen uses her communication skills with great discretion. She knows what to say, how to say it, and what to keep unspoken. Listen to that inner knowing. Trust that you have that level of awareness and keep your communication authentic, kind and compassionate, both for yourself and others.
The sixth chakra, located between the eyebrows and just slightly above, is about our inner knowing; the site of the Third Eye (no pun intended!). During this global crises, expand your inner vision to see how the entire planet is being affected. This is the place where that higher level of vision can happen. Spend some time contemplating how the human race has endured and survived, suffered and succeeded over millennia and will do so again.
The seventh chakra, at the crown of the head, is your connection to the Divine, however you imagine that to be. If it is your practice to pray, this is the time. If prayer is not your thing, then find your personal higher power and allow it to come into you, knowing that as all things in the Queen’s energy, it is elevated higher than in the past and that you can do so much more for yourself and your loved ones than you imagined.
Above all, stay safe and love well.
